About Us
Welcome to Table Genius, a family-owned company created by siblings Shayla (Adams) Stafford and Chase Adams. Our story begins in Columbia, Maryland, where we grew up with our mother, Tany. She raised us single-handedly while working full-time, a challenging task she managed with unwavering dedication. Despite her busy schedule, she made it a personal commitment for us to have meals together as a family.
Our dinner table was a hub of learning and conversation. Using educational placemats, our mother taught us everything from the 50 states to sign language. These moments were invaluable, fostering both our knowledge and family bonds.
As adults, we strive to recreate that sense of togetherness with our own families by prioritizing daily family meals. While we don't always hit the mark, it remains an important goal for us.
With over a decade of experience training educators nationwide on diversity issues, we've come to understand a universal truth: dispelling myths and stereotypes about other cultures begins at home, around the dinner table. We encourage families to use multicultural resources to broaden their children's and their own perspectives.
Our collection celebrates the genius of African American inventors and their contributions to modern society. We hope that both kids and their caretakers will learn from these placemats and stay tuned for the exciting new editions we have planned!
